Dana Bourgeois

NAMM 2007 Banjo Killer

Dana Bourgeois guitars are one of the finest hand-built acoustics on the market today and we are privileged to have two of the NAMM 2007 showpiece guitars.

Here is a Banjo Killer LTD featured in a stunning paleburst finish. This guitar is an absolute cannon and is a definitive slope-shoulder dreadnought. The top is premium bearclaw sitka spruce and the back and sides are figured mahogany. The headstock overlay and belly bridge are Brazilian Rosewood.

Heres what Dana Bourgeois has to say about the Banjo Killer guitars:

"The BK Slope D has a deep, broad tone. Through wood selection and voicing, we push it in the direction of a bigger bottom end, a "lush" top end, and greater volume, similar to the characteristics of Bryan's original BK. When I first started making slope shouldered Dreadnoughts, I went for something as different as possible from the balanced and focused sound of my standard Dreadnought. The Banjo Killer gets me back to that original idea."

SOLD, thanks Brinal!

2007 Custom Slope D Herringbone

The Slope D happily accommodates a wide variety of playing styles including country, blues, old timey, pop,
contemporary, and--you name it. And if you're a fingerstyle player looking for a dreadnought-sized guitar that can handle fingerpicks or bare fingers as well as flatpicks, the Slope D is definitely your guitar!

The Slope D's interior construction is reasonably similar to the rest of our guitars, but we sure have fun with the exterior. Standard materials include an adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and ebony fretboard, headstock and bridge, trimmed everywhere (body, fretboard, headstock, and soundhole) with ivoroid binding. To complement the theme, our original Bourgeois snakehead-style peghead is graced with ivoroid-buttoned Waverly tuners.

And did we mention the standard sunburst finish? We treat our sunbursts like just another piece of wood--no two are exactly the same, and that's the way we like it. Sometimes we are influenced by the colors and textures of the top or back; sometimes we want to de-emphasize a distracting feature in an otherwise outrageous top; sometimes we're after a vintage vibe. Sometimes we're just going for a cool burst! This one is definitely cool!

To add to the overall appeal of this instrument, we added herringbone appointments, something that not only looks great but helps the tone!
